In the past year NVS MORGANS has become The NVS MORGAN EQUESTRIAN CENTER, having changed our focus at present from a Morgan breeding facility to a professional boarding & training facility. Currently we are home to two trainers, the legendary Betty Greene & Lisa Horning.
Betty Greene has been a trainer and judge in the equine industry for over 50 years. Betty has had Several Top Trainer Awards, the Golden Reins Award for AMHA, is in the Morgan Horse Hall of Fame as well as many other awards. Betty has a very long list of students, many who are top trainers and judges today. Betty's main focus is horsemanship and arena trail. Betty Greene is an amazing woman who loves her work and the challenge of bring students along.
Lisa Horning is the owner/trainer at NVS MORGANS. She brings a large amount of versatility to her training by being educated in western pleasure, arena trail, reining and dressage. Lisa has started over 300 young horses and has brought several of them to championships in different arenas. Lisa continually pursues her equine education with Betty Greene in trail and horsemanship and also World class dressage instructor Nailia Addoukadyrov. In the past Lisa has also taken many lessons with Mike Boyle for reining. Lisa has trained and shown her Buckskin Morgan stallion to a National Trail Championship, top five in the World Open Reining, western pleasure championship and is currently working and training her stallion NVS MIDAS at 3/4th level dressage and working toward FEI level by the end of 2010.
In
the past 16 years NVS MORGANS
has strived to produce quality Morgans that were selectively bred
for: versatility, athletic ability, correct conformation, cheerful dispositions,
classic Morgan type and sometimes color.
Our breeding program was in no way a matter of chance. We chose the best of Government/Brunk, Western Working and Lippitt. From the Government/Brunk lines we gleaned the correct conformation, athletic ability as well as size. The Western Working lines has been our best source of bone and substance not to mention tremendous athletic ability and disposition. The Lippitt lines assured Morgan type.
In the past we were not only selective about our breeding but also how we raised our Morgans. We try to keep them in the most natural environment and added excellent health care. Our Morgans had plenty of natural exercise, freely grazing in pasture. They developed in a herd-like environment. We chose mares that were kind and wise, that taught their foals to negotiate terrain with rocks, hills and water. They were completely socialized with other horses. This all benefited their overall physical and mental health.
NVS Morgans is located in the beautiful scenic area of Lincoln, just on the outskirts of Sacramento, California It's a natural environment for housing horses with it's lush grass, rolling hills, running creek, and plenty of room to romp an play. Its year around easy climate is Horse friendly.
